Disco is not dead

Disco is not dead

Disco is a music genre that originated in the 1970s in the discotheques of the United States. Although it has had ups and downs in popularity since then, it has maintained a steady following and influence in pop music for decades. Characterized by its danceable rhythm, disco embodies freedom and fun on the dance floor. Among the most popular artists of the genre are Donna Summer, Bee Gees, Chic, and ABBA, among others.

In the 1980s, disco music evolved to include elements of funk, R&B, and electronic music, resulting in subgenres such as boogie, post-disco, and dance-pop. As the 1990s and 2000s progressed, the popularity of disco music declined. Currently, disco music is experiencing a resurgence, and dance floors are becoming a common place for disco music lovers again.

There are several reasons why disco music is resurging today due to the nostalgia for the 1970s and 1980s. Additionally, its irresistible rhythm and melodies paired with showstopping vocals and catchy lyrics make this the perfect genre for an evening of dancing and letting loose.

That’s why on May 20th at H Roof, we will go back in time and immerse ourselves in the glitter and glamour of the disco era with this themed event titled “Disco Never Dies”.
